Paneides

Paneides, king of Chalcis and brother of Amphidamas, the judges in the poetry contest between Homer and Hesiod, whose historicity is however not occupied was.

The Greek people saw unanimous Homer as the winner, Panedes decided, however, that Hesiod fees the first prize as a poet who calls in his work for peace and the country work, is justly to give the preference to one who - as does Homer - tell of wars and battles.
