Match notes
All SquigBowl games tend to descend into mayhem with surprising speed. The Blonde Bombers - Children of the Corn (SquigBowl 4, SquigBowl 4) was even faster than usual. Some enterprising Children had seeded the entire field with hard corncobs put up like tiny stakes. Not tight enough to be easily noted or stumbled upon, but certainly hard and upright enough to cause additional injuries to anyone being knocked down. So even before the game had started, things were looking grim for the Bombers.

Yet the day was saved by more mayhem, this time from a Bombers' supporter. Someone (according to Vicious Virgin it was some 'male pig') set off the stadium sprinklers just as the kickoff started, with quite clingy effects upon their already tight match uniforms. The resultant cheering and rioting from the audience put the Bombers squarely on the side of audience favorites of the match, and the distraction of these two events is probably what caused the Children to waffle around the first half - causing no casualties, nor scoring any touchdowns, while Bombers swarmed all over the pitch to pass and run the ball (squig) over the line not once, not twice but three times.

The second half was a more normal (but still very lively) Chaos vs Elf game. With the Bombers uniforms dry again the formerly shy minotaur POPCORN could get down to business and cause three Bomber casualties all by himself. Which, apart from a bad stumble in the first half and a wizards fireball late in the second half would be all she wrote. (Apart from a series of knockouts..)

Moreover the second half would also show a successful 2-1 grind for the Children, and had not the Bombers lead already been 3-nil the game might have ended a draw. It most certainly ended with only four Bombers left on the pitch, as opposed to all eleven Children. (It might bear mentioning that this was yet another game where a fireball turned a certain touchdown for one team into a touchdown for the other - only in this case all three targeted players were blown straight off the pitch.)

All in all, the Bombers did a good showing and are very pleased with their victory, while the previously untested Children did find the funds to hire on an apotechary which is sure to help them as they go on into the regular league as it runs into its fifth season.
